Native American style flute model
Here is the model I made of the last wooden flute that i built. Just as any other project i encounter, i make a model first to test both the constructions methods and to test functionality. I was employing some of the principals of the Native American courting flute design into something a little less prone to lost parts or rough handling. This particular flute i finally made from Poplar wood and although it is built to only play the lower octave, it does that very nicely. Now that i have sound on my site, and you can actually hear what this instrument sounds like. The carving on the front to resemble a bird, or fish, or reptile (use your imagination). Everything past the beginning of those elongated slots has no effect on the sound or pitch of the flute.
